This Cookie Policy explains how International Citizens Group, Inc. and our partners use cookies and similar technologies to recognize you when you visit our websites. It describes what these technologies are and why we use them, as well as your rights to control our use of them.
What is a cookie?
Cookies are a small text file that a web server delivers to a web browser to create web pages tailored to the use. Cookies can be used to track users’ behavior on a single site or across different sites. Our first and third-party cookies have an expiry time within a session or longer, known as persistent cookies. Session cookies are erased when the user closes their browser and they do not collect personal data from the user’s computer. Persistent cookies remain for about a year or two and collect personal data when a user browses our websites. They are capable of providing convenient and rapid access to familiar content, which enhances the experience of our users.
Cookies set by the website owner (in this case, International Citizens Group, Inc.) are "first-party cookies." Cookies set by parties other than the website owner are "third-party cookies." Third-party cookies enable third party features or functionality on or through the website (e.g., like advertising, interactive content, and analytics). The parties that set these third party cookies can recognize your computer both when it visits the website in question and also when it visits other sites.
Why do we use cookies?
We use first-party and third-party cookies for several reasons. Some cookies are required for technical reasons for our websites to operate. Our first-party cookies are strictly necessary and have a zero or low level of intrusion. They are in place with the sole purpose of making our websites work. They are designed to enhance the users’ experience on the site, while also measuring site performance. Our third party cookies have a medium level of intrusion because they are set to store more personally identifiable information about our users. The third-party cookies on our websites will use the personal data collected from our users to create a more personal experience the next time they visit our sites. For example, International Citizens Group, Inc. keeps track of the pages you visit on our website to determine what content is the most popular or most used.

What other similar technology do we use?
We employ software technology called clear gifs (pixel tags), that help us better manage the website. Clear gifs are tiny graphics with a unique identifier, similar in function to cookies, and are used to track the online movements of Web users. In contrast to cookies, clear gifs are embedded invisibly on Web pages or in emails and are about the size of the period at the end of this sentence. We use clear gifs or pixel tags in our HTML-based emails to let us know which emails have been opened by recipients. They allow us to measure the effectiveness of certain communications and the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns. We join the information gathered by clear gifs to our customers' personal information profile in our CRM database, Copper.
